Alex Wood (1871 - May 1937) was an Anglican bishop in India from 1919 to 1937.
He was born in 1871, educated at Aberdeen University and Edinburgh Theological College“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 and ordained in 1895.〔"The Clergy List, Clerical Guide and Ecclesiastical Directory" London, John Phillips, 1900〕 His first post was a curacy at St John’s Forfar.〔"Scottish Episcopal Clergy, 1689-2000" Bertie, D.M: Edinburgh T & T Clark ISBN 0-567-08746-8〕 He was at the Scottish Episcopalian Mission at Chanda from 1898 to 1919, a period of service interrupted by World War I service as a temporary Chaplain to the Forces.〔For which he was awarded the OBE- Who was Who (ibid)〕 In 1919 he became Bishop of Chota Nagpur and in 1926 was translated to Nagpur. He died in post on May 1937,〔The Times ''Obituary: The Bishop of Nagpur'' Friday 21 May 1937: pg 16: Issue 47,690; Col C〕 his predecessor writing his biography.〔(Open Library )〕
